Nike has introduced the “Cosmic Unity”, the sportswear giant’s first high-performance shoe, made with at least 25% recycled content by weight.

This basketball shoe is Nike’s first high-performance shoe under its “Move to Zero” initiative, the company’s sustainability plan that builds on Nike’s previously announced efforts to use only renewable energy at all of its facilities by 2025. , reduce your carbon emissions and become a zero waste company.

The shoe will be launched in three color combinations: “Green Glow”, in bright green and black; “Amalgam”, which is tricolor and is inspired by the view of the earth from space; and “the Space Hippie”, a combination of light blue and orange.

“We wanted to create a synergy between improving the world with what we do, but also creating an impact on athletes so they can perform at a higher level,” said Ross Klein, senior creative director for high performance footwear at Nike.

“As athletes we worry about many things, what we eat, how we train, when we sleep, but this is much bigger than that,” said A’ja Wilson, one of the most valuable players in the WNBA (National Women’s Basketball Association. ) and center of Las Vegas Aces. In addition to modeling the sneaker in photos recently released by Nike, the athlete also contributed to the development of the Cosmic Unity sneaker.

“We are wearing something that minimizes the impact on our planet so that we can continue to play basketball and help protect it for the future,” continued Wilson,

The Cosmic Unity “Green Glow” sneaker will be launched worldwide on February 26, “Amalgam” on March 7 and “The Space Hippie” on March 12.
The debut of the latest shoe follows another great launch from Nike, the “Go FlyEase,” the brand’s first hands-free shoe.

In late December, the company raised its full-year sales forecast, expecting higher revenue as shoppers fueled their third consecutive increase in online sales by buying outdoor sportswear amid the pandemic.
