Instituto started its second foray into the Basketball Champions League Americas on the wrong foot. In their debut in Group D, in Rio de Janeiro, Albirrojo fell 100-85 against Minas Tenis Club de Belo Horizonte.
The match started evenly, and the Institute was able to win the first two sets with a better attack than in defense, but it was not enough for the rest of the game.
Albirrojo won 28-25 in the opening quarter and went to rest with the minimum advantage (51-50) after enduring a comeback from the Belo Horizonte team, which from losing by 5 (30-25) went on to dominate 39 -35.
Minas escaped in the third, which was a fourth of streaks, and those of the Brazilian team were better thanks to a poor defense of the Cordovan: Minas scored a 9-0 and escaped 61-53, Gloria approached 58 but he was left without a goal and watched Minas leave until he was 75. The set ended 77-64.
Everything was sentenced in the final segment, when Gloria suffered the consequences of having had several of its players affected by the coronavirus until Monday.
