Only two hours after Fernando Vidal and his advisers announced that Abanca has “shown them the exit door”, Deportivo has announced the name of the new president and his board of directors. The chosen one to lead the club is Antonio Couceiro Vázquez (A Coruña, 1955). He is the president of the Chamber of Commerce of A Coruña, AFIGAL and CESGAR. Previously, he chaired the Port Authority of A Coruña, was general director of Begano and Councilor for Industry and Commerce of the Xunta de Galicia.

Along with him come four directors who, like Couceiro, have no relationship whatsoever with Deportivo’s recent past except for David Villasuso, who in April 2020 had been chosen by Abanca to occupy the position of general manager in the Abanca club. Recently, he joined Deportivo’s governing body as a co-appointed advisor. The other three new directors are as follows:

Eduardo Blanco Pereira (A Coruña, 1955). Graduated from INEF, Doctor in Law and Master in Sports Law. Carlos Cantó: Graduated in Business Administration and MBA from ESADE Business School and an expert in the world of marketing and sponsorships. He is the CEO of SPSG Consulting Vocal and coordinator of the “Sports Marketing” chapter of the Spanish Marketing Association, as well as a member of the Advisory Board of the “World Football Summit” (WFS). Carlos is associate professor in “Sports Business” at ESADE Business School, Collaborator in different media (Expansión, Palco23, Forbes Spain edition-, etc.) and visiting professor at various business schools (IESE, Columbia University, IE, EAE, etc.) .) He has led sports and leisure projects in 25 countries and participates in events and reports.

Enma Lustres (O Grove, 1975). She is the founder of VACA Films Studio and has launched VACA TV and VACA NET TV. Vaca Films has established itself over the years as one of the leading independent production companies in Spain, developing successful films and series for years. He has extensive knowledge of the large national and international production companies that will play an important role in the television rights market.
