(EFE) – Manchester City reinforced its leadership at the head of the Premier League by beating Burnley 0-2, achieving its thirteenth consecutive victory.

The Sky Blues felt the pressure of a Manchester United that equaled them on points by beating Southampton, but with two more games, they are back behind a City that is in the best moment of the season.

They have thirteen consecutive victories among all competitions, their last draw dates from December 15 and they have not lost since November 21 against Tottenham Hotspur.

To reinforce their clear favoritism to succeed Liverpool in the competition’s record, Pep Guardiola’s men beat a Burnley at Turf Moor who was always against the current and things were very difficult for them from the beginning.

In the third minute, a shot by Bernardo Silva was cleared poorly by Nick Pope, dropping Gabriel Jesús, who pushed her head to empty.

With a lot to row to try to get something positive, Burnley took second with a cross from Ilkay Gundogan that Raheem Sterling finished off in the small area.

The second half was much more relaxed, with City timidly looking for the third and Burnley who approached punctually, but never carried enough danger to threaten Guardiola’s advantage.

City once again remain as the solo leader of the table, with 47 points, three more than Manchester United, which has one more game, and seven more than Liverpool, which has to play next.
